Fuel - Issue One
Four Visionary Photographers, One Powerful Vision
What sets Fuel apart is its curation. The magazine brings together four distinct photographic voices, each bringing their own perspective and methodology to the table. This diversity of approach is crucial, it signals that there is no single "correct" way to photograph the male form, no monolithic aesthetic that defines queer male body photography.
Immortal By Nige opens the debut issue with an intimate look at his work and philosophy. In a candid self-directed interview, Nige reflects on his artistic journey while simultaneously engaging in a separate conversation with his model Andrew.
BATE CRUSH brings a distinctly different energy to the magazine's pages. Through an interview alongside his model Juan, BATE CRUSH explores the intersection of intimacy and artistry. His work demonstrates how photography can be simultaneously vulnerable and controlled, candid yet carefully composed.
Mark Hersh and Ashton Jay round out the photographer lineup, each contributing their unique visual vocabulary to Fuel's inaugural issue. Their presence ensures that the magazine spans a wide spectrum, from fine art to commercial work, from
intimate portraits to bold editorial statements.
The Models: Faces and Bodies Behind the Lens
While photographers shape the vision, models bring it to life. Fuel's
debut issue features two additional compelling model profiles: Jhon Zerpa and Steven Buitrago. The inclusion of dedicated model features is significant. It acknowledges that modeling, particularly in art photography, is skilled work deserving of recognition and respect. Models aren't passive objects but active participants in the creative process, and Fuel's structure
honors this reality.
